Membership/Baptism

How do I become a member of FPC?

What are the requirements?

1) Let us know you’re interested!  You can do this by filling out a connection card and dropping it in the offering plate OR by coming up front after the service and talking to a member of the prayer team.   Joining FPC is a simple process and we’ll answer any questions you have along the way.

2) You  must be a Christian, which means you believe Jesus is God and the only Savior.  It means that you are committed to obedience to His Word because He is Lord and reject the popular view that we are our own gods and decide what is right or wrong for ourselves.  Not sure what you believe?  Come forward after service and anyone on the prayer team will be glad to talk with you or you can call the church office during the week and talk to one of the pastors.

3) Attend the next Inquirer’s class—dates and times will be announced in the bulletin.  Inquirer’s classes are offered at various times throughout the year, usually on a Sunday after each service.  Your children can continue with activities in Sunday School while you attend.  The purpose of the class is to find out what FPC believes, what we see as our purpose in Salinas, what FPC can do to help you and your loved ones grow spiritually, and how membership will benefit you.   At the end of the class, you have the opportunity to join.

What about Baptism?

If you have already received baptism as a Christian, you do not need to be baptized again.  If you have not been baptized, or it was merely a ritual for you, then Jesus has commanded us to be baptized as our commitment to leading a different life than in the past.

You can choose either immersion or sprinkling.  The form is not the big deal.  What is important is what is in your heart.
